The August Check-In...
Even though it looks like it's been quiet, it's been anything but quiet! We've been working on new songs, running over them time and time again and making sure they're not gonna be cringe-worthy a year or so from now.
Plus, Ty and Erik are producing another artist on their debut album for Kivel Records at "The Recovery Room" studio in our hometown of Conway, Arkansas. They just wrapped cutting lead vocals with the singer and are now in the "tweaking" process so that everything fits just right. Those of you who dig the oldschool eighties AOR sounds will really dig this album.
Erik laid some opening leads on a couple of the songs and when they went to hear the playback, the hair stood up on his arms. "This was a complete reminder of listening to guys who were total shredders, but still had melodic sense and did a lot of layered harmony work. All I needed was the old piece o'shit car I had back then, a concert shirt with the sleeves torn off, and my old well-worn ventilated jeans and I would've been sixteen again."
This album also marks the first time that Erik's played a lot of keyboards. Don't worry, he's fine and the doctors say he'll make it.
Once this CD is done, we're on to locking ourselves into the studio and working until our new album is finished. Songs of frustration, rage, partying at the Shag Palaceā¢, loose sex, and even a ballad.
Seriously.
